The Middleton Sustainability Committee has created this Sustainable Middleton Award program to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have taken significant actions over the past years or more to help make a more Sustainable Middleton . These awards are also meant to inspire and motivate other residents, businesses, community groups, and non-profits to implement similar sustainable actions. Applications are due by February 27, 2026.
Reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and/or increasing renewable energy use.
Teaching children and/or adults about the environment and how to make intelligent, informed decisions that lessen our impact.
Improving Middleton’s community by native landscaping and using non-toxic management.
Using green building technologies and standards in the design, development, and construction of buildings or their renovation.
Producing or promoting local, sustainable, healthy food.
Demonstrating leadership in sustainability efforts. Examples include a one-time or ongoing sustainable activity in school or the community.
The following are eligible: Individual students, school groups, class(es), or community youth groups.
Employee(s) who have gone above and beyond their normal duties to incorporate sustainable practices.
Improving fleets, alternative fuels, car-sharing, transit, biking, etc. to reduce fossil fuel use.
Reducing waste, implementing composting, or increasing recycling.
Implementing responsible water management, reducing pollution and conserving water resources.
