WISCONSIN ON THE AIR: My Life in Public Radio
Thursday, April 23, at 1:00-2:00 pm Free

Our guest speaker will be Jack Mitchell, who is indelibly associated with public radio. While pursuing a Ph.D., the Corporation for Public Broadcasting selected him to spend a year working at the BBC in London. Upon return, he became the first employee at National Public Radio and the first producer of All Things Considered. Elected to the Board of Directors of National Public Radio in 1982, he headed programming at NPR and, in 1988, was recognized by NPR’s Edward Elson award. In 1998, Mitchell became a full professor at the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In 2021, Jack was elected to the Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
