NEWS RELEASE—MONDAY, MAY 11

Groundbreaking for Harvey John & Lucille Taylor Memorial Community Park, 5:30 p.m.

Today is a banner day for Middleton!  We are so fortunate to have a homegrown donor for a park development about to occur at the Community of Bishops Bay off of County Highway Q.  LucilleTaylor  is a very generous AND patient benefactor for the City of Middleton.  We are thrilled she will be with us today to see her gift in action, a total of $100,000 thus far.

Lucille’s generous donation of her life estate will benefit countless children and families from all walks of life to live happy and healthier lives.  This contribution is profound and immeasurable.  Our profound thanks to Lucille!!

We wish to recognize the collaboration and many people involved in making this project happen:

  • Penni Klein, Public Lands Manager, and her Public Lands crew, leading the City to being a Gold Medal finalist each of the last two years through the National Recreation & Parks Administration.
  • The Parks Recreation Forestry Committee, Leif Hubbard Chairperson.
  • Middleton Common Council Members, Susan West Council President.
  • Blake Theisen, of Ayres Associates, who has managed the design and layout of the park.
  • Matt Frank, of Murphy Desmond Attorneys, who skillfully managed the legal landmines in this project.
  • Representatives of the Department of Natural Resources—Linda Hanefeld & Darsi Foss—whose team worked well and collaboratively with the City to ensure a sound future for this park.
  • Rob Langdon of SCS, who performed the environmental work critical to the review process
  • Janie Kromer, who is representing the developer of Community of Bishops Bay, T. Wall Enterprises which has dedicated the land for the park and provided grading and seeding.
  • Our contractors—Niesen & Son Landscaping, Lee Recreation & Play World Structures, McKay Nursery and Busch Signs, who have worked with the City patiently throughout this process.
  • Dave Baltes & Middleton Youth Football which will be seeking funds to improve the football field irrigation.

Most importantly—our profound gratitude goes to Lucille Taylor and her dear late husband Harvey John.  Middleton is a better community thanks to your generosity!  Construction will be underway this week.
