The City of Middleton is asking residents for their input in reimaging the City’s “Community Campus” – the municipal buildings and associated parking lots grouped in Downtown Middleton’s Hubbard Street area. The effort is part of the City’s goal of developing a long-term plan for the Community Campus area.

During Spring 2019, the City organized the Community Campus Committee to assess needs, develop options and provide recommendations to the City Plan Commission and the Common Council. Consisting of representatives from various stakeholder groups and City Departments, the Committee plans to offer its recommendations by Winter of 2019-20.

Central in this planning process is input from Middleton residents.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to reimagine our Downtown municipal facilities and improve upon the services we deliver to City residents,” said Mike Davis, City Administrator. “We hope that all residents will take a few moments to provide their input. Our top priority is to develop a long-term plan that reflects the needs of Middleton’s resident.”

The planning team has already facilitated a Committee meeting and held two “Sunday Strolls”, informal, pop-up conversations with residents in Downtown and in Lakeview Park. Focus group meetings with stakeholders from the Library, Senior Center, City Hall and the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission are planned in late August.

The team is also gathering data from residents via a simple online survey that will identify residents’ most significant facility and infrastructure priorities. Residents are invited to take the survey now through early September at:

In taking this survey keep in mind the following:

• individuals are presented with two randomly selected options
• individuals can vote as few or as many times as they’d like
• ideas may appear more than once
• even though users can vote multiple times, it’s hard to cheat specific ideas up or down

As the planning process continues, residents will have additional in-person and online opportunities to provide input through a project web page hosted on the City’s web site and at several planning workshops.

The City has engaged consultants from Short Elliot and Hendrickson (SEH) and Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) and JH Findorff & Sons to provide urban planning, space needs, conceptual design and cost estimating services.
