NEW NEWS!

  • Annual Overnight Lock-in: Friday 2/16 at 8pm-Saturday 2/17 at 8am: At the lock-in, students will participate in games, sports, cooking, movies, art, and more! There will be gender-specific sleeping rooms. A late-night meal, ice cream, and breakfast snacks will be provided.
    • What to Bring: Sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, book, games, snacks (if desired)
    • Permission Slips: Available at the Youth Center. Turning in a permission slip will reserve your child a spot at the lock-in (limited to 30 students), so please only return a permission slip if your child will be attending. Please let us know of any changes. Attendance is also limited to students who have displayed good behavior.

  • Girls Inc: We recently joined Girls Inc. of Greater Madison! Girls Inc. will be meeting on Mondays and is open to any student who self-identifies as a girl. The focus of Girls Inc. is to raise girls who are strong, smart, and bold. Our girls have chosen to focus Girls Inc. this spring on art, girls and women in the media, and sexuality and healthy relationships.

  • CANStruction Team: Our annual CANStruction Team (in partnership with Mead & Hunt) will meet on Fridays until the end of April! Students will work with professional engineers to design and build a sculpture entirely out of non-perishable food. Completed structures will be displayed at West Towne Mall at the end of April, and all food will be donated to the M.O.M. Food Pantry.
  • Two Kromrey 8th Graders are piloting a peer tutoring program at the Youth Center this semester! Here are two of the tutor pairs:
YC
  • Sports Club will be offsite at the Fighter's Memorial Park Indoor Baseball Practice Facility on WEDNESDAYS from January 3rd-March 20th from 4:15-5:30pm! Students will still meet at the Youth Center for snack and will take a bus to and from the facility. Directions to Firefighter's Park.

  • Parents and caretakers, please make sure that your student is aware of the Youth Center's expectations. A reminder of a few that have been overlooked recently:

    • Students are required to CHECK-OUT with a staff member before they leave the Youth Center.

    • Students are required to participate in an activity from 4:15-5:15pm. There are typically two activity options to choose from in addition to the homework room. Recreational cell phone use is not permitted during activity time.

    • Respectful behavior and appropriate language is expected at all times. In a conflict, students must use respectful language to express themselves and are encouraged to get help from a staff member if necessary. Physical violence is not a solution.
