The City of Middleton along with a number of partners are working to connect the City trail system to our neighbors. One of these efforts is the planned Black Earth Creek Trail (formerly known as the Good Neighbor Trail) running from Middleton to Mazomanie. This planned trail corridor will make a number of connections including Pleasant View Golf Course, the Middleton Bike Park (off-road trail system), and the proposed Community Olympic Development Program, a cross-country skiing and sports training center. The Middleton Bike Park has been made possible by a partnership with the Capital Off Road Pathfinders (CORP) who have developed the Pleasant View trail system through volunteer work, planning, grant writing and fundraising. CORP is now working to develop an off-road trail system in Cross Plains that will one day be connected to Middleton & Pleasant View via the Black Earth Creek Trail.
CORP has announced a fundraising initiative and has teamed with Middleton-based Death’s Door Distillery to raise money for the completion of the Cross Plains system and alterations to Pleasant View system that are needed to create a new trailhead in conjunction with the planned Community Olympic Development Program. Between now and the end of 2017, Death’s Door Distillery will match all donations, up to $10,000, to help realize the connectivity of these trail systems.
