2018 Budget Highlights:

Last night the City Council voted to approve the 2018 Budget and the 2017/2018 Property Tax Levy. There were no changes to the budget from what had been approved by the Council at the November 8 Special Council meeting. Some of the highlights in the budget include:

• 1.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment for non-union employees
• Funding for merit pay adjustments as previously discussed with the Finance and Personnel Committees
• Continued funding of the part-time IT Service Technician
• HR Manager position (promotion) and part-time Accounting Assistant position
• Full-time Police Officer position
• Full-time Streets Maintenance Worker position
• Youth Center position changes (additional hours & benefits)
• Part-time Sustainability Coordinator position
• Full-time Fire District Battalion Chief position
• Increase in the Hotel Room Tax from 7% to 8%
• $3.5 Million in Capital Borrowing
• Funding for $899,100 in replacements under the Vehicle Replacement Plan
• Projected 2.8% increase in the City’s portion of the tax rate
