The male operator of the vehicle, identified as Michael E. Irvine, 50, of Fitchburg, showed signs of impairment and subsequently failed field sobriety tests. He was assessed and released by EMS and arrested for 5th offense operating while intoxicated, a felony, and taken to the Dane County Jail.
