Charge Up Dane County
The “Charge Up Dane County” program is seeking partners to host electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities that will help fill the gaps in local EV charging infrastructure. The Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change (OECC) aims to install affordable charging in 60 to 70 locations across Dane County. Today, most EV owners charge at home in their garages - and that’s a great way to save money. However, if you are a renter, you deserve access to affordable charging too – hence this effort.
The county is seeking to fill three gaps in EV charging infrastructure:
- High-density urban and suburban areas where residents lack access to private charging networks, OR
- Rural areas where the private charging market is less likely to install charging stations, OR
- Multi-modal transportation hubs that support public and active transit options, with EV charging capabilities.
Potential site hosts include local businesses, faith communities, municipalities, private landowners, and community-based organizations.
