Mayor Kuhn Joins Renew the Blue Council at Clean Lakes Alliance Community Breakfast

On Monday, May 13, Mayor Emily Kuhn joined local leaders, advocates, and environmental partners at the Clean Lakes Alliance's Renew the Blue Community Breakfast. The annual event highlights ongoing efforts to improve water quality and preserve our region’s lakes for future generations.

During the breakfast, Mayor Kuhn signed on as an official Signatory to the Renew the Blue Council, a coalition of municipalities, agencies, nonprofits, and other stakeholders committed to reducing phosphorus levels in our lakes. Excess phosphorus is a leading cause of water quality issues and beach closures throughout Dane County.

By joining the Council, the City of Middleton strengthens its commitment to protecting our waters and enhancing recreational access to area lakes. The Renew the Blue Council aims to align and expand local partnerships, drive implementation of science-based solutions, and coordinate regional efforts to keep beaches clean, safe, and open for all to enjoy.

“We all have a shared responsibility to care for our lakes,” said Mayor Kuhn. “Middleton is proud to be part of this collaborative effort to make real, lasting improvements to water quality.”
