Century Ave. - Lane Closures
Beginning Tuesday, August 13, the City’s contractor will need to install a new water main across Century Ave. at the Dewey Ct. intersection. This is part of the reconstruction of Lake St. and Dewey Ct. To create a safe work zone while providing continued traffic movement, there will be two lanes for Century Ave. traffic in this area, with lane shifts planned as follows:
Tues. 8/13 – 8/14: Close both inside lanes of Century Ave. to remove median
islands and place temporary pavement.
Thurs. 8/15 – 8/16: Drive on the south side of Century Ave. to create a work zone on the north side of Century Ave. Northbound traffic on Allen Blvd. will be merged into one right-turn lane onto Century Ave. Marina Dr. access will be maintained to the east side of the work zone. Traffic will transition back to normal lanes east of Tomahawk Ct.
Mon. 8/19 – 8/21: Drive on the north side of Century Ave. to create a work zone on the south side of Century Ave. Northbound traffic on Allen Blvd. will be merged into one right-turn lane onto Century Ave. Traffic will transition back to normal lanes east of Tomahawk Ct.
Thurs. 8/22 – 8/23: Close both inside lanes of Century Ave. to remove temporary pavement and reconstruct median islands.
This planned schedule may need to be adjusted due to inclement weather or to address unforeseen issues. There may be longer than usual queues and delays at peak times, and this construction zone will require extra attention. Please remember to put down your phone and drive safely, courteously, and slowly through this area. It’s important that we get a new and reliable water pipe across this intersection, but it’s even more important that the work zone is safe for us all.
