In the City Council packet for March 15 is included the City Administrator Selection Committee’s recommended contract for hire of Bryan Gadow, currently city administrator in Monona, for Middleton. Bryan’s references and background check were very favorable, and he came to terms provided by the Selection Committee in their meeting last Saturday. Accordingly, he has signed the draft contract for Council approval.

Prior to his pending appointment as Middleton City Administrator, Bryan Gadow has served as the City Administrator and Economic Development Director for the City of Monona (WI) since 2019. He brings over 16 years of local government experience to the Middleton community.

Bryan previously served as the Village Administrator of New Glarus (WI), “America’s Little Switzerland,” from 2015 to 2018.
Before coming to New Glarus, Bryan served for eight plus years with the City of Wayzata (MN) in the roles of Director of Planning and Building, Assistant City Manager, City Planner, and Assistant City Planner. During his tenure in Wayzata, Bryan oversaw all planning and zoning activities, highlighted by the redevelopment of an underutilized 14 acre former strip mall to a $250 mil mixed use development, the creation of a ten year lakefront plan, and managing the development of the City’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

Prior to serving in Wayzata, Bryan was selected for the prestigious Cookingham-Noll Municipal Management Fellowship with the City of Kansas City (MO) in 2005.
Bryan received a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) degree from the University of Minnesota in 2008. He also received a Masters of Public Affairs (MPA) degree in 2005, and a Bachelors of Arts degree in political science, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received certification as a City Planner from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), a Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM) from the International City/County Management Association, and Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) from the National Development Council.

Bryan is originally from Kaukauna (WI) in the Fox Valley region, and currently lives in Verona with his wife, Sarah, and two young children, Bennett and Paige.
