What can you do right now to improve water quality in Lake Mendota and Pheasant Branch Creek? If you live in an area with lots of terrace trees, make a commitment to remove street leaves before the rain. It’s an easy, yet very effective action that those living in the urban environment can take to reduce the amount of phosphorus that washes into our waters each fall. The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy in collaboration with the City of Middleton are asking you to join the effort and encourage neighbors to take action by posting a Leaf-free Streets sign in your yard. The signs are traditional 18” x 24” yard signs. See the yard sign in the link below. The signs will be available while they last for pick-up in the City Hall front lobby, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

which includes information to encourage residents to sign up for text/email rain alerts reminding them when rain is on the way and it’s time to remove street leaves.
