The Middleton Recreation Department will run the NFL Flag Football program this fall. NFL Flag Football is a nationally recognized program that teaches young players the fundamentals of football and how to have fun! Participants who sign up will receive a reversible replica NFL football jersey. League games will be played on Saturdays beginning September 11th against teams from the Madison Area. In addition, teams will have 1 practice per week on weeknights beginning the week of August 9th.
Cost: $65/ Per Participants
Register by 8/1; players must be registered by this date to be guaranteed a spot on a team. There is a $15 late fee for anyone not registered by the deadline and will be accepted based on availability.
Teams will have the option to practices 2 hours during the month of August to help give teams time to prepare for the regular season. Practices will be schedule for 1:30 during the school year.
*No 5th or 7th/8th grade practice on Labor Day September 6th. Practice will be rescheduled that week based off coaches and players availability.
2nd/3rd Grade Season:
Game Days: Saturday
Dates: September 11th through October 16th
Game Times: Between 8am to 12pm
Location: Lakeview Park or Baer Park
4th to 8th Grade Season:
Game Days: Saturday
Dates: September 11 through October 23rd
Game Times: Between 8am and 2pm (Depending on Number of Teams signed up for league)
Locations: Around Dane County Area (Middleton, Waunakee, Cross Plains, Mount Horeb, Verona etc..)
4th to 8th Grade End of Season Tournament
End of the season tournaments will take place on October 23rd. Teams will be placed into brackets with other teams from their grade level with similar records. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 2 games.
The tournament’s first game has started the past couple of years at 8:30am. The championship games have been completed by 4pm
Tournament locations are typically hosted in Fitchburg, Stoughton or in Verona
Splitting Up Teams:
If there are more than 10 players to register for their grade level, teams will be split up as followed:
Players in 4th grade will be placed on rosters for the school they attend. If necessary, players from schools in close geographical proximity will be placed together to fulfill roster requirements. Players from private schools or those who home school are placed on the roster of the public school they would otherwise attend.
Players in grades 5-8 will be evenly split by coaches after the first day of practice.
After the August 1st Registration Deadline, a bulk order with the NFL Flag Football League will be placed to order jerseys and equipment for teams. Jersey sizes will be ordered based on the size of jersey that was entered for your child at time of registering through the Middleton Registration System.
All players must wear a protective mouthpiece.
