Applicable Codes & Ordinances
Owner occupants of a single family home have the right to do their own work including building, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. All others must have all work done by hired professional tradesmen. The work will need to be permitted and inspected by the city.
All work is required to comply with all applicable codes. In the past, when single family homeowner occupants have acted as their own contractor, some have had to redo their work with hired professionals and tear out what was originally installed and replace with new. This department strongly suggests that unless the owner has a complete understanding of all applicable code requirements, and how to do the work, they hire a licensed professional.
